The Peace Sign was created in 1958 by Gerald Holtom in Britain and made its debut in a march planned by the Direct Action Committee against Nuclear War.  The symbol was later adopted by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. 

A peace sign button was imported into the US in 1960 by a student at the University of Chicago.  By the late 1960s the peace sign had become an international symbol adopted by anti-war protesters.

The peace sign has found it way onto just about everything including Clothing, Bags, Boxes, Pens, Incense Burners, Flags and much more.
